But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. -Luke 24:29, NIV My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me. -Matthew 26:38, NIV Something explodes. Something new emerges.
It sparks and fills the air with new energies. It sets our rhythms ablaze and pushes life through us. All distortions are left out –the chores, the errands, the stupid requests, the mundane, trivial effects that life suddenly throws at us. We suddenly feel…alive. Fire refines and surges forth, entangling us to its flavors and bringing our hearts peace. Blood fights and glazes and brings us strength. The laws of the past are no more. No more pain and gore. No more sin and selfishness. No more tears and horrid ablutions that tear peoples down. No more unreasonable excuses to have broken scepters reign through our lives. Our hearts find change-and embrace it. Our attitude shines through the darkest night. What drags us down and drops our morale –our attitudes, lifestyles, relationships and lies- suddenly fade. Like the oceans, they part. Like an altar, we become a true sacrifice to the Lord of Hosts. Everything is able, nothing is impossible; every day becomes a new day for hope. Love is like a chemical reaction: it needs no action, nor patronizing cupids, not even outside interventions. When it appears, love arrives like a full storm as it weaves to and fro every step of our lives. And it explodes…when it explodes, the world will see the difference. And the world will see the glorious change.
